Everywhere the eye can see, items are being ranked according to how great they are. There is everything from the top 20 songs on the radio, to the top money making movie at the box offices, to the top books being sold at the bookstore. Everything that is on the market is given a ranking to show the general population how good it is compared to other similar top competitors.
More people are likely to check out the highly ranked items than items with low rankings or items that are not ranked at all because their high ranking status is a vote of confidence for the product or service. It is a subtle marketing strategy that makes all the difference in sales. These rankings influence more people to try them, which, in turn, leads to even more popularity than the item already has. The dilemma the marketers have to face is making their products get on to one of these lists in the first place and letting the rankings attract more consumers to check them out. It makes the job practically do itself.
When people use an internet search engine, keywords are typed in to the search bar and a list of results automatically shows up on the computer screen. While these results are not necessarily ranked by number, they are sorted by relevance to the keywords typed in to the server. Consequently, the more relevant sites are picked first because they are near the top and viewers do not have to scroll to the bottom of the page to find what they are looking for. This leads to more views much like the movies, songs, and books in a ranking list.
The websites that Google ranks “most relevant” by placing them at the top of the list are picked and receive more views and, subsequently, leads to higher sales for anyone Google votes for, making it crucial for a business to reach the top of the list. The best way to achieve a top spot in the list of results is to utilize what is called a search engine optimization or SEO.
SEO helps boost a website’s relevance factor which in turn boosts its ranking. Using keywords or key phrases that would often be searched for in relative to the topic, SEO enhances the likelihood that that website will show up at the top of the list. This ensures more views for that website, increasing its popularity even more.
SEO is a type of internet marketing or search engine marketing. These are good tactics used to get websites in the spotlight that otherwise might not have been found. The point of these methods is to increase the visibility of websites.
The best thing a website can do is hold a spot as near the top of the list as possible. Once this happens, it is all smooth sailing from there. The website will continue to get more views which will hold it at a premium spot on the list.
