As more and more businesses, big or small, move online, it became essential for new marketing strategies and companies to form.  While the basic marketing strategies can still be used even online, there were some new ones that could be used to conquer the search engines and increase a websites’ viewer traffic.  Companies that specialized in these new strategies were built and offered their services to online companies.

The new rules enforced by Google changed the way search engine marketing prospered.  Marketing has now become a balance of content and links to give websites the rankings they are looking for on search engines.  While alone, links or content worked well, but it was when they were combined together that they could create a marketing force to be reckoned with.  There is still debate as to whether or not one works better than the other.  But it seems that Google is telling Search Engine Optimization firms that the only way is through a healthy balance of both.
